This increases casting distance as the line flows from the reel with less resistance. This is ideal for float lining for Snapper or even surf fishing for salmon. Monofilament or nylon fishing line is constructed by heating a mixture of polymers to fluid and then extruded through tiny holes to form strands of fishing line.

The size of the hole used dictates the diameter of the line and hence contributes to the lines breaking strain. The strands of line are cooled until they set and they are wound onto spools.
